Product of the Month: 5-MTHF 20% off!

5-MTHF on sale this month 20% off.

One in seven people cannot convert folic acid to its final usable form. Many are significantly benefited from supplementation of the 5-MTHF form of folic acid. This product helps with detoxification, headaches, thinking, depression and emotional issues, inflammation, and learning disabilities.  This genetic defect can play a role in Alzheimers, heart attacks, and strokes. If your family has a history of these conditions, you may want to get checked.

Here is an article that I wrote regarding this widespread problem.

Product of the Month: Vitamin D 20% off

It’s October and I’m recommending people to start back on Vitamin D.  I am recommending that everyone living this far north start on either 2,000 iu or 5,000 iu a day of Vitamin D to prevent illness. Vitamin D is more effective at preventing the flu than flu shots and it has lots more benefits in addition to it.

75% of us are low in Vitamin D with over 95% of African Americans low it it. Vitamin D helps with heart, bone, mental, and immune health.

If people are starting to get sick around you, go up to 10,000 iu/day. If you get sick I am recommending 20,000 iu for up to 10 days. (The Vitamin D council recommends 40,000 iu/ day for up to 7 days).

Read more on Vitamin D here.

This month: Vitamin D is 20% off. Stock up now and save.

Website updated

My website was hacked this past week and I was locked out from the administrator functions. The solution that my hosting service had was to completely update the software that was running it. This ended up breaking many features that were on it and I’ve been working all weekend to piece it back into place. Please bear with me as I work out the kinks and don’t be surprised if the site temporarily turns pink while you are clicking on an article. : )

In the meantime, links have been corrected, and I have some new links up. I really like the new print/pdf button, and you can easily share articles not only by email, but through facebook and other common networking sites. So feel free to poke around, and let me know what you think.

High radiation detected in Hawaii on June 11 and June 23rd

I was checking news from the Radiation Network today and they were saying that there was a spike in radiation readings from their Hawaii station on June 11 and June 23rd. They believe that it is from Fukushima. The June 11th spike probably relates to the relase on June 3rd

You can read it on their message page. Scroll down to read the info.

Radiation Network Message Page

On a seperate crisis in Fort Calhoon, flood waters from the Mississippi are threatening a nuclear plant there. The good news is that this plant has been shut down since April with the core cooling since then. Ernie Gunderson from Fairewinds and Associates is more worried about the Cooper nuclear power plant 90 miles away, and is calling for it to be shut down temorarily,  just in case a dam breaks further upstream.

Next Thermography Sessions

Jeanne Wilson stops by one Monday a month to perform thermographic imaging. The next thermography sessions are scheduled for August 22nd and September 26th. My apologies to those who were scheduled in July, I needed to cancel because we will not be here.

This is the same procedure that costs much more elsewhere in town. The only fee that I charge Jeanne, is a small fee when you use your credit card (feel free to pay by check or use cash!). This just offsets my merchant service fee. I do this because I believe that thermography is an important tool in early detection of breast and other cancers.

More information about thermography and Jeanne Wilson are found here.

Parabens (sex hormones) in toothpaste and mouthwash.

Today a patient brought in a bottle of mouthwash that contained parabens in them. Parabens are estrogen mimickers and increase the chance of breast and other cancers. They also cause a weakness with muscles of the inner thigh and a major contributor to low back pain. A quick search shows that parabens are also used in toothpaste (including toddler toothpaste).

Ok, so I’d like everyone to check their toothpaste, mouthwash, bar and soft soap, shampoo, shaving cream, dish detergent, lotion, makeup, and bring in anything else that has parabens (such as methylparaben or propylparaben) in them. Let’s start a pile of this crap so that we can easily see how insidious this stuff is.

Sunscreen in stock

Because so many sunscreens have estrogen mimickers in them, I decided to stock a safe one. I chose Aubrey Natural Sun SPF 30+ Unscented for Sensitive Skin/Children. I did so because it was on the first page of Skin Deep’s sunscreen ratings, was from a company that I was familiar with, was (somewhat) affordable, and was unscented.

The Environmental Working Group–Skin Deep guide to sunscreen.
