Voting Resources for Nov. 8. Don’t forget the Judges. Vote the entire ballot!

The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 8 this year. Early voting has already begun. You can vote at your county’s board of election. I’ve written previously about the impact the new abortion law has on women’s health [1]. Currently, there is an injunction against this law until a lawsuit brought by women’s health providers works its way through the legal system. It is likely that this will go before the Ohio Supreme Court. There are three positions on the Ohio Supreme Court that are up for election.
Mobilize the Vote (Northeast Ohio) put together a partial election guide that can be found here: shorturl.at/LPXY5 [2].
Judges are important to do research on. The best website to learn about judges in Cuyahoga County is https://www.judge4yourself.com/ [3]. They show the ratings for each judge from six local bar associations as well as who was endorsed by the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
For other counties, a good resource is https://www.judicialvotescount.org/ [4]. It has individual candidate profiles.

Both the Cleveland Plain Dealer [6] and the ACLU of Ohio [7] are urging people to vote no on issue 1.
Issue 2 is more complex than it seems. In addition to not allowing Non-US citizens from voting in Ohio, it will also prevent 17-year-olds from voting in primary elections. Currently, they are allowed to vote if they turn 18 before the general elections.
