Dan Shen is a Chinese herb traditionally used to lower cholesterol and blood pressure and is a natural blood thinner (prevents clots). In addition to these cardio and vascular properties, it helps with low energy and depression by affecting dopamine and epinephrine pathways. It has also been used to improve liver function.

Dan Shen has many antimicrobial properties, including against viruses, bacteria, and yeast (candida). It has specifically been used to treat Bartonella infections and help with Lyme disease.
